I was just laying in bed last night thinking how we could creatively make some extra money while the auto industry crashes down around us. This is exactly what I pictured G doing! Anyone want a coop? ;)
I was listening to NPR this morning and it mentioned that the auto plant where you live will be one that is scaling down. I have been hoping that this wont affect you and your family.
It already has. Not just that auto plant, but the entire mess with the Big 3. No work for a month now... thank God for unemployment benefits, a huge garden, eggs and optimism! Thanks for thinking of us. :) Isn't the coop idea fun?!
I am an Urban Homesteader living on .29 acres in the city. Last year our family attempted to grow as much of our own food as possible, and what we could not grow (or raise), we bought from other local folks who could. What began as a challenge morphed into a lifestyle that in the end, has brought us closer together (often via canning) and saved us a lot of money. In the near future, we plan to add a new family member, a few laying hens and hopefully a small hoop house!

Great idea about the coops though!
